What is the Valley's Got Talent?

The Valley's Got Talent is a talent show hosted by the Ohio Valley Youth Network and Sycamore Youth Center for the purpose of amplifying inspirational voices and recognizing talent in the form of vocals, dance, instruments, group song, and more.  We award prizes of $500 to the Grand Prize Winner, $100 to the first-place contestant in every category, and $25 to the second-place contestant in every category, for a total of over $1,000 in prize money.

What are the rules?

Ages: 13-23 (bands/choirs/soloists can have people over age 23 accompanying/backing the

vocalists/musicians but only the vocalists/musicians ages 13-23 will be judged in the competition)

Residence:  Contestants must live within 35 miles of Steubenville OH.

Categories:
a.)  Bands/Vocal Groups
b.)  Dance
c.)  Vocal Soloists
d.)  Miscellaneous (non-vocal) talent (Poets, Instrumentalists etc.)

Songs must have inspirational/Christian content.  Since this is a competition sponsored by the Ohio Valley Youth Network which has the goal of uplifting the hearts and minds of our youth as they use their gifts to reflect God's creative gifts in their lives we ask that you please submit the lyrics to your song along with your entry. The screening committee composed of Ohio Valley Youth Network members who will have the final say on what is appropriate for the competition.

Who can participate?

Anyone living within 35 miles of Steubenville, Ohio and between ages 13-23! Bands, choirs, and soloists can have people over age 23 accompanying/backing the vocalists/musicians but only the vocalists and musicians ages 13-23 will be judged in the competition.

What are the categories?

We have categories for vocal soloists, bands or vocal groups, dancers, and a miscellaneous category for non-vocal talent such as instrumentalists, poets, and more.

What do I need to do to sign-up?

We require you to submit the sign-up sheet below and attend a date of in-person auditions listed below: 

 

Edison HS:   Oct. 21 1:00-2:15pm

CCHS:   Oct. 24 3:00-4:00pm

 

Steubenville HS:  Oct. 25 2:45-4:00pm

ICMS:  Oct. 26 2:30-3:30pm

Toronto HS:  Oct. 27 3:00-4:00pm

Harding MS:  Oct. 28 2:45-3:45pm

Sycamore Center: Oct. 29 1:00-3:00pm

(to audition at Sycamore go to the Sycamore Youth Center, 301 N. 4th St., Steubenville, OH)

Those who cannot make it to the in-person tryouts (we highly recommend you do so) are free to submit an online audition to bobbyjonbauman@gmail.com.  Songs must be submitted via YouTube, e-mail link, or other video link by October 29th at 11:59 PM. The songs/performance must be five minutes or less.

I signed up and submitted/completed my audition. What's next?

  • Typically, only twenty acts total (around five per category) will be chosen to perform at the Valley's Got Talent at the Steubenville High School Auditorium on Sunday night November 6th at 6:00 p.m.

  • Contestants/acts chosen to perform will be informed on or before October 31st at 11:59 p.m. via text or email.

  • Valley’s Got Talent will be on Facebook Live as well as on Comcast Cable TV on the Steubenville City Schools Channel, so either come to the show or watch us live!
